Security Plan Review…
This service is similar to the Facility Security Assessment in that the process attempts to identify security vulnerabilities. Unlike the Facility Security Assessment however, there are no physical facilities available for inspection (except the intended site for the new structure); instead, the design documents become the focal point of the review and the basis of the keynoted markup deliverables. Where the new facility involves the replacement of an existing structure, inspections of the existing structures are conducted in order to develop an understanding of the activities, culture and the principle security issues involved. Security-related documents are also reviewed and meetings with the project architect and stakeholders are conducted.
It is preferable to consider security requirements before the design effort begins so they can be considered as a part of the design program and included in the construction budget. Though the plan review service was developed specifically for execution at any time and at any level of design process, as the design moves into later stages (i.e. beyond design development), the resulting recommendations tend to be more physical (i.e. locks, doors, physical barriers) and technology-based (card access, CCTV, etc.) rather than architectural (or CPTED-based) in their scope.
