Secured Design provides a comprehensive suite of security system design services. As a member of an architect’s project design team or as a stand-alone service, SDLLC will coordinate a turn-key design and implementation effort to develop a cost effective technology solution.  We support the procurement process to include design, integrator selection, construction and implementation employing a recognized standard design process which can be modified to suit particular project requirements:

• Program Design: The Program Design Phase is the information gathering step in the design process intended to determine the principal conditions that influence the project and define its general objective. It also establishes the general design parameters, including a preliminary project budget. This first phase typically involves the collection and review of relevant data, inspection of existing conditions and meetings with various stakeholders. The result of this effort is a program document which articulates the concepts of operation, costs and other issues that define the project parameters.
• Schematic Design: This phase establishes the general scope, conceptual design and relationships among the components of a system. It explores the most promising design solutions and offers functional descriptions of door controls and hardware schemes, detection elements, cameras and emergency end points.  Schematic design can also include the project’s first graphic articulation.
• Design Development: During this phase, the approved schematic design is further refined. Floor plans are developed and general details begin to emerge. Functions are assigned to various end points and more detail coordination  (i.e. IT, Physical Plant, Human Resources) takes place.  All decisions will be finalized by the Client’s approval of this phase.
• Construction Documents: This final step in the actual design process results in detailed working drawings and specifications which eventually become part of the construction contract used to determine  the actual construction cost and build the project.  An alternative to these documents is the “Request for Proposal” (RFP), which is less detailed and defines the contracted work more as a series of performance objectives or goals.  The RFP permits the integrator to propose solutions in accordance with the manufacturer  they represent and the integrator’s special skills. The choice as to which is best depends on the specific situation and the funding available.

• Contract Administration: Contract administration is the phase that permits the design to become a reality. It begins with the preparation of the bid documents and ends with the final inspection and commissioning of the project. Secured Design will identify qualified prospective integrators/contractors, assist in the bidding process and support the construction effort to ensure that the installation is compliant with the contract documents. Typically, this would involve meetings, inspections, document (shop drawings and product submittals, requests for information and as-built documents) review and response, preparation of change orders and evaluation of proposal submittals and support coordination and training. Upon completion of the work under contract, it must be implemented within the organization  (see Implementation Support).
